Mike Flynn charged with lying to the FBI, expected to plead guilty

Flynn is accused of asking Ambassador Sergey Kislyak to "refrain from escalating in response to [American] sanctions."

Trump’s former national security advisor, Michael Flynn, has been charged with lying to the FBI in an indictment filed by special counsel Robert Mueller’s office. He is expected to plead guilty at a hearing on Friday morning in Washington D.C.

According to The Daily Beast, “While he was President Trump's national security advisor, Flynn is accused of denying to the FBI that he asked Ambassador Sergey Kislyak to ‘refrain from escalating in response to [American] sanctions’ that the Obama administration had imposed on Moscow for meddling in the 2016 presidential election; that he asked Kislyak to delay a United Nations Security Council vote on Israel; and that Kislyak he never described Flynn's response to his requests.”

Flynn’s lies about the meeting with Kislyak at the end of December in 2016 allegedly set off a chain reaction that resulted in former FBI Director James Comey being fired, and ultimately the nvestigation into possible obstruction of justice.

Quite the predicament for the man who so emphatically lead the chant “Lock her up” at the 2016 Republican Nation Convention, don’t you think?
