John Boehner lays it out: 'There is no Republican party. There’s a Trump party'

Boehner isn’t ready to jump back in the ring, especially since the Republican Party is “taking a nap somewhere.”

John Boehner, former House Speaker, announced in an interview on Thursday that the Republican party has been completely taken over by Trump. He went on to accuse his fellow Republicans of abandoning the party ideals in favor for whatever ideals Trump professes.

According to Boehner:

“There is no Republican Party. There’s a Trump party. The Republican Party is kinda taking a nap somewhere.”

The former Speaker has no desire to return to Washington because “it’s too divided,” and he calls Trump the “most unusual” president that America has ever seen.

Boehner retired from Congress in 2015, before Trump took office, but that hasn’t stopped him from sending harsh criticism Trump’s way. Boehner was succeeded by Paul Ryan who has also announced his retirement.
