According to Hunt, the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller uncovers something new on an almost daily basis and makes clear “that no matter what is revealed, Trump and his allies won’t go quietly.” Already there is a smear campaign against Mueller by “some congressional Republicans,” and last week, in the wake of public speculation that there is enough evidence to bring “an obstruction-of-justice case against Trump himself,” the president’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, claimed “a president can never be guilty of obstruction because he is the chief law-enforcement officer under the Constitution.”
