Indian Wrecking Crew Strikes Again

Five podium sweeps for Indian's flat track team defines the company's return to a sport it hasn't been in since 1953.

In the third of four races in 15 days, Jared Mees' victory in Tuesday night's Harley-Davidson Black Hills Half-Mile in Rapid City, S.D. put him that much closer to a national championship.

Following the same script from the Half-Mile in Calistoga at the end of July, Mees took a big lead early only to see it swept away with a red flag. Soon after the restart, he was back in the lead with no one giving him a real challenge the remainder of the race.

After thirteen races into the 19-race season, Mees has seven wins, 11 top-twos, and 12 podium results. This gives him a 36-point advantage with just five races left.

The two other Indian Wrecking Crew members, Bryan Smith and Brad Baker, finished second and third respectively. Baker's third-place finish put him at third in the title chase, with Smith retaining second. This puts Indian even closer to a championship top-three finish.

Brandon Price won the AFT Singles shootout with the race's top seven riders all finishing within a second of the winner at the checkered flag. Race series points leader, Shayna Texter finished second at 0.049 seconds behind Price. Kevin Stollings crossed the line in third.

Price's second win of the season put him in second overall at 16 points behind Texter. Kolby Carlile finished sixth in the race, but sits within 22 points of the title lead.

American Flat Track will complete its run of four races in 15 days at the Peoria TT on Sunday, August 13.
