(AllHipHop News) Rapper Christopher "Kid" Reid of legendary hip-hop group Kid-n-Play has replied to criticism over an image he posted making fun of Colin Kaepernick.
Kid hit the headlines in a mostly negative way last week, when he posted a picture of himself in an Afro wig, doing a Black Power salute, alongside sports pundit Jason Whitlock.
"Let me be clear-the skit and photo were not meant to disrespect Colin's message or political stance," the "House Party" star said in a statement.
"Rather, we wanted to spoof the media's treatment of him and the circus that has been created. Many people mistakingly thought Kid, who is extremely light skin, was a white man," Kid said.
According to reports, the picture was meant to promote a skit that never aired on FS1.
Many people thought that Jason Whitlock was making fun of Colin Kaepernick, who can't find a job in the NFL after he decided to kneel during the National Anthem, kicking off a nationwide controversy in the process.
Jason Whitlock has been critical of Colin Kaepernick, so the post featuring Kid naturally drew scorn.
It even earned Kid the infamous "Donkey of the Day" honor, awarded by Charlemagne Tha God on Power 105.1's hit morning show, The Breakfast Club.
According to Kid, he never meant to disrespect Colin Kaepernick.
"Anyone who knows me knows where I stand on Colin Kaepernick - exactly where he stands," Kid claimed.
