(AllHipHop News) On Tuesday, the Recording Academy revealed its list of nominees for the 60th annual Grammy Awards. The Best Rap Album category honored Jay-Z's 4:44, Kendrick Lamar's DAMN, Migos' CULTURE, Rapsody's Laila's Wisdom, and Tyler, The Creator's Flower Boy.
Of course, there were questions about why certain projects were omitted. Q-Tip took to Instagram to slam the Grammy committee for not including A Tribe Called Quest's We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service.
“I’m sick of y’all f-cking Grammy n-ggas,” said the Hip Hop legend. “You got us to get out there to perform last year, and y’all don’t give us no f-cking nominations? [9th Wonder,] what happened?”
Grammy's 2018 Album Of The Year selections were 4:44, DAMN, Donald Glover "Awaken, My Love!", Lorde's Melodrama, and Bruno Mars' 24K Magic. There was a lot of coverage about the fact no solo white men were nominated in that category.
"Y’all think it’s some sort of caveat because this is the first time that no white man wasn’t nominated in no major categories? We were the most black cultured group out. That’s all we stood on. That’s what we represented,” stated Q-Tip. “This f-cking album that we just put out, this last Tribe album, it stands with everybody else’s sh-t that’s up there. I don’t give a f-ck. Respect to everybody who is nominated and all that, but whatever, I’m speaking for mine.”
We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service received critical acclaim after its release in November 2016. The first Tribe album following the death of Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor was also certified Gold by the RIAA.
"Y'all Grammy motherf-ckers, f-ck y'all," Q-Tip expressed at the beginning of the IG video. "My man is gone. We've been doing this sh-t for f-cking years, and y'all n-ggas don't recognize."
