(AllHipHop News) Wave 3 is reporting Donald “Donnie McFly” Mattingly has passed away from his injuries.
Mattingly, also known as Wreck D. Mic, died Tuesday at the University of Louisville Hospital. He and music partner Jassiem “Father Jah” Anderson were gunned down outside an elementary school. Anderson is still hospitalized.
Family members say neither man was armed at the time of the shooting. They had both just left a concert at the nerarby Cole’s Place nightclub.
Nappy Roots is one of the most prominent Hip Hop acts to emerge from the state of Kentucky. Group member Buffalo Stille spoke about Donnie and Father Jah’s impact on his home state’s rap scene.
“These guys were the people making the Hip Hop cassette tapes here in Louisville,” said B. Stille. “They inspired artists like myself.”
Donnie McFly was 36 years old. He is survived by seven children. Louisville Metro Police have yet to make an arrest connected to the case.
