Flyers for the event announced J. Prince Jr as the party’s host. Police are not sure if the two men were the intended targets of the shooting. Investigators are speaking to witnesses. Close to 500 people were crowded at Northeast Houston’s Liberty Road.
J. Prince Jr., son of Rap-A-Lot Records founder James Prince, promoted the charity event on his Instagram page. According to his IG post, the block party was scheduled to end at 7 pm. The gunfire was reported to have taken place at 9:30 pm. It has not been confirmed whether Prince was at the location at the time of the shooting.
