Fabolous Explains How Public Enemy and Flavor Flav Inspired Him As A Youngster

Brooklyn rapper Fabolous made a highly-anticipated return to Drai’s Nightclub atop The Cromwell in Las Vegas over the weekend.

(AllHipHop News) During his first set of the new year, Fab ran into legendary Public Enemy group member, Flavor Flav.

Flav is a regular at Drai’s, and he was there this weekend to watch the veteran Brooklyn rapper perform.

For Fab, having Flavor in the crowd was more than a special moment – Public Enemy was the first rap group he ever saw live and in person.

“Public Enemy came to my hood, Bed Stuy Brooklyn in fall of ’89 to shoot the ‘Fight The Power’ video,” Fabolous revealed. “I was 11 yrs old & that’s the first time I seen rappers from TV in the hood… I saw how excited people were that a music video was actually happening in our hood. Public Enemy lead a parade down Malcolm X Blvd & the whole hood followed & supported from kids to adults.”

Other major artists were at Fabolous’ performance, including Flo Rida and R&B star Keith Sweat.

But it was Flavor Flav’s appearance that seemed to captivate Fabolous the most.

“But @flavorflav4real was the heart, and the hood loved him! I remember all the kids & people wanted to show Flav love or touch the clock on his neck or scream Yeahhh Boyyy that day!!! That’s why it was dope to run into Flav and still see how genuine he is, still have that 1 of a kind energy & still showing love,” Fab said.
