(AllHipHop News) A dispute over Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records trademark has landed the deceased rap pioneer’s wife and his stepson in a court battle.
Tomica Woods-Wright filed a lawsuit against her son Lil Eazy-E, claiming he has a website doing business as Ruthless Records and selling merchandise using the legendary brand name.
According to The New York Post, Tomica, who has owned the company since Eazy-E died in 1995, hit Lil-Eazy in a legal action filed yesterday (August 16).
Lil-Eazy allegedly attempted to trademark Ruthless Records Inc., but the application was denied, because its was obviously too similar to Ruthless Records’ trademark.
Lawyers for Tomica and Ruthless’ lawsuit also claims Lil Eazy and his partner own the rights to a company called NWA-LLC, in violation of the N.W.A. trademark.
