(AllHipHop News) Comedian Dave Chappelle has joined the cast of Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut “A Star is Born.”
The comic will play an old friend of Cooper’s character.
The “American Sniper” star and Lady Gaga lead the cast, which also includes another funnyman, Andrew Dice Clay, and movie veteran Sam Elliott.
The film is based on the 1937 Janet Gaynor and Fredric March movie and centers on a washed-up star who helps an aspiring young actress find fame.
The movie was remade in 1954 by director George Cukor, with Judy Garland and James Mason in the starring roles, and again in 1976, with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Production on the new film began recently. It is scheduled for release in September, 2018.
