The Bronx rapper stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss her scorching career. She recently announced her debut album was set to arrive in October, but she seemed to be pulling back from that time frame during the interview.
"I want it to drop next month. Every single time I be like, 'I think I got all of the ten songs.' It's like, 'No, I'm bugging. These ain't it," stated Cardi. "It's because it's like, 'Damn, I'm competing with myself. I'm competing with the goddamn #2 record."
Cardi's relationship with Offset was also brought up. When asked if she was "in love" with the Migos member, the former Love & Hip Hop: New York star responded, "You know I'm too gangsta to use those type of words."
She later added, "You just change your mind all the time. I might have ten songs that I think is popping. Then like one week later I do another song and it's like, 'Well, is it this one?' Then I have to have so many other people hear it, because people's opinion really matters to me. Then you gotta drop it at the right time."
As far as musical partnerships, many fans are expecting a Cardi B/Remy Ma collaboration in the near future. The two New York representatives have apparently conversed about working together.
"The last time I talked to her I showed her a beat and she showed me a beat," said the 24-year-old artist about connecting with Remy. "I'm so focused on my album right now. There's a lot of people coming my way [for features]."
In addition, Cardi spoke about taking part in New York Fashion Week, meeting Beyoncé at the Made In America Festival, the perceived diss by comedian Sommore, dropping a remix to "Bodak Yellow," and more.
