21 Savage Talks Signing With L.A. Reid’s Epic Records

21 Savage is starting off his 2017 with a major announcement. During an interview with the Rap Radar podcast, the Atlanta rapper announced he has partnered with Epic Records.

(AllHipHop News) When asked why he signed with Epic’s head executive L.A. Reid, 21 replied, “Cause he’s black… He’s probably the last black CEO. How not? Why not? He’s gonna understand me before anybody else understands me.”

The “No Heart” creator continued, “I ain’t wanna just sign on some straight business sh-t. I wanna sign to someone who believes in me and understands me.”

The 24-year-old born Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph had a standout year in 2016.

21 was named to the ’16 XXL Freshman Class, and he released the popular Savage Mode with Metro Boomin.

Epic is also the label home to OutKast, Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, A Tribe Called Quest, Rick Ross, Future, DJ Khaled, and Yo Gotti.
