Ty Dolla $ign Talks 90's Influence & New Music At VH1 Hip Hop Honors

Ty Dolla $ign talks to AllHipHop about drawing inspiration from the golden era!!!

There is no era of music quite like the 90's. In fact, the 90's is the golden era of both Hip Hop & R&B, so it was only right for VH1 to have one of it's best celebratory shows in true 90's style with a 90's themed block party on the lot on Brooklyn St. at Paramount Studios in Hollywood CA.

To celebrate the golden era, and the time when Hip Hop truly became mainstream and permeated popular and mainstream culture, VH1's 'Hip Hop Honors: The 90s Game Changers' honored Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri, Martin Lawrence, Master P, and Hype Williams.

AllHipHop's Rea Davis caught up with Ty Dolla $ign before he hit the stage paying tribute to Montell Jordan and performing with Warren G. Ty discussed the impact that 90's Hip Hop & R&B has had on his music career as well as his forthcoming projects.

"90's is everything to me. That's where I got most of my inspiration. Listening to most of the sh-t that comes out through my tracks. Like for instance when I did "Paranoid", I felt like I tapped into f-cking BBD vibes. So 90's is definitely like the biggest inspiration on my music for sure," said Ty.

When asked what his favorite Mariah Carey Hip Hop collaboration, and favorite Master P song was, he replied by saying,

"Mariah & ODB, Master P...MF, it's so many Master P songs that I love..."Ice Cream" Man."

Ty also revealed that he has 'Beach House 3' coming, and he's dropping two new songs. He's lit! Be on the lookout for Ty's new music! Check out the interview below!
