DMC: Suge Knight Wanted To Sign Run DMC

Run DMC were super heroes in real life, but now DMC is making it all come back to life in the world of Darryl Makes Comics.

(AllHipHop Features) Some people still don’t know: Comic Con is lit. The massive event spans comic culture, gamer culture, cosplay, science fiction and a colorful assortment of other matters, including Hip-Hop. Darryl “DMC” McDaniels is one of the most beloved fixtures of Comic Cons all over the world at this point. DMC is a titan in the rap game, but he’s now released the third installment of his self-titled graphic novel “DMC.” In the book, D is a fictitious character that fights crime, super villains and extols heroic virtues while dealing with a plethora of human issues.

AllHipHop’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur talks to the super hero of rap about his transition into this netherworld of fantasy. However, DMC reveals how his life-long affinity for comic books likely saved his life. The Hollis, Queens legend also reveals that Suge Knight, the embattled Death Row boss, wanted to put Run DMC on the label with Tupac. DMC says, "Suge Knight said 'One of the most positive things that was so amazing to all of us on the West Coast was that when y'all all came in from the East ocean [and] all was together Run DMC, LL, The Beastie Boys, De La Soul. It's like every time we came together. He said there was no division."
